Management Faculty of Color Association Annual Conference

CALL FOR SUMISSIONS

New Possibilities for Emerging from Economic Downturn

7th ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Eastern Michigan University - Ypsilanti, Michigan
June 3 – 5, 2010

Purpose of the Conference:

The primary purpose of MFCA Conference is to enable junior- and senior-level African American, Hispanic American, and Native American faculty to thrive in their academic careers. In particular, the conference is designed to provide a forum for management faculty of color to consider how their research, teaching, and field-based interventions can have a positive impact on organizational scholarship and practice. Participants will also consider how they can individually and collectively achieve career success and personal fulfillment.

Submissions:

Submissions are invited from all faculty of color as well as from doctoral student who have defended their dissertation proposals. In addition to the general themes of the MFCA conferences, this year's conference theme is "New Possibilities for Emerging from Economic Downturn". We plan to explore aspects of this theme through workshops, panel discussions, as well as presentations.

Submissions can focus on

  • theoretical, empirical, applied, interdisciplinary, and discovery contributions offering scholarly treatments of research issues related to MFCA's mission and/or conference theme;
  • Contributions that address pedagogical issues facing MFCA educators, research and experience concerning effective courses and course segments addressing MFCA's mission and/or conference theme;
  • Contributions related to helping MFCA faculty mentor students in the KPMG Management Doctoral Student Association;
  • Issues and ideas related to the role management faculty of color can play in this time of economic uncertainty and change.
