LOEX came back to its home state of Michigan for the first time since 2004 for our 38th annual conference. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn. In a period of great economic upheaval, over 300 librarians were able to find the resources to attend the conference to learn about the latest and greatest in library instruction and information literacy.
The conference takes a great deal of time to plan and conduct and it would not be possible without the tremendous efforts of our volunteer committee, who do all this conference work in addition to their regular jobs at their home institutions. I would like to thank our LOEX 2010 planning committee, led by co-chairs Teague Orblych (University of Michigan-Dearborn) and Jennifer Lammers Zimmer (University of Michigan). Also on the committee were Carla Brooks (University of Michigan-Dearborn), Lesley Brown (University of Illinois at Chicago), Joel Seewald (University of Michigan-Dearborn), Sally Smith (University of Michigan-Dearborn), and Patrick Armatis (University of Michigan-Dearborn). They were all integral in making sure the conference went smoothly (and helping quickly fix things in the rare instances that it did not).
Beyond the committee, I would like to thank all the presenters who decided to take the plunge and submit a proposal and then craft that accepted proposal into an informative session; their creativity and passion is what makes a LOEX conference worthwhile. Please enjoy reading about their work in this latest set of proceedings from the 38th annual LOEX Conference: Bridging and Beyond: Developing Librarian Infrastructure.
