Abstract
Deterministic methods involving ODEs and PDEs have been used to model chemical reactions for a long time. However, these methods do not provide accurate results when the number of molecules involved is small. In this case, stochastic methods are a better fit. This article presents a few stochastic methods for the study of rust formation, with the emphasis on closed-form formulas.
