Abstract
The art of taking the pulse at the radial artery has been practiced for thousands of years in ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. This book presents a scientific version of these old practices, replacing the doctor's fingers by a self-built pulsometer machine, which displays on a screen the entire profile of the pulse wave. A statistical analysis of this wave is performed in both time and frequency domain. The book contains plenty of practical case studies, as well as comprehensive explanations of the elements of the pulse. The main features of this scientific approach of the pulse are: objectivity, reproducibility and quantitative representation. The book had grown from the author's own experience of using a self-constructed pulse machine and making the parallel with the traditional art of the pulse. The book is recommended to anyone who would like to understand more about the secrets of the pulse.
