Abstract

This article examines recent scholarship on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals and issues in Pennsylvania in the era of the American Revolution. In particular it discusses books, articles, and websites that highlight instances of male-male intimacy, rumors about same-sex activity, and gender nonconformity in colonial and Indigenous populations in Revolutionary Pennsylvania. It also highlights pertinent archival collections and offers suggestions for future research.
