Abstract

The Geddes Town Hall School House located on Eastern Michigan University's campus is representative of the rural education, locally and nationally. Since the Geddes Town Hall School House was moved to Eastern Michigan University, it has been used intermittently by professor's to host classes and to teach children about the history of schools. By creating brochures and an activity booklet about the Geddes Town Hall School House, interested individuals can learn about both the history of the structure and one-room school houses in general. Currently, the only passive interpretation of the Geddes Town Hall School House are the following: the Geddes Town Hall School House is included in an online (printable) historical walking tour of Eastern Michigan University and a historic marker located outside the structure. These brochures and newsletter will hopefully provide better understanding of the Geddes Town Hall School House and its place at Eastern Michigan University.
