Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare and contrast two theories about childhood acquisition of idioms. Based upon the comparisons a set of twelve example interventions were developed. The interventions are developed to work on using characteristics of idioms to teach children to use various strategies to comprehend the figurative meanings of idioms.
