Description

The EMU Women in Philanthropy Oral History Project documents the organization's history across its 15 years of giving to the EMU community. In 2025, Matt Jones talked to Jaclynn Tracy--EMU alum, College of Education emerita, and former Leadership and Counseling Department Head--and Donna Schmitt-Oliver--Leadership and Counseling emerita, and former Associate Dean of the College of Education--about their roles in WIP. Tracy and Schmitt-Oliver were two of the foundational members of WIP and served as the organization's inaugural co-chairs in 2010. In this interview both women reflect on the place of philanthropy in their upbringings, the impetus for creating WIP, as well as the roles each member serves and how they have evolved.
