Summary/Comments
Eastern Michigan University is committed to protecting the rights and welfare of all individuals involved in its activities, especially when they participate as human subjects in research or instructional procedures. To ensure ethical and compliant conduct, all human subjects research must be reviewed by the University Human Subjects Review Committee (UHSRC), which operates in accordance with federal regulations from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and, when relevant, the FDA. The UHSRC oversees research that poses minimal risk or greater, including projects using secondary human data. If a project initially conducted for non‑research purposes later becomes intended for dissemination, investigators are responsible for seeking UHSRC review and approval before sharing findings beyond the classroom.
