The full scope of my creative project spanned three sections. The first section was EMU Theatre’s 2026 One-Act Festival. I acted as both the Umbrella stage manager and production stage manager for one of the plays. The festival was completely student-run, from directors to designers to playwrights. As the Umbrella, I was responsible for many logistical aspects and mentoring the other two production stage managers: Tesia Brown and Rin Pitts. Some of the logistics involved choosing the order in which the plays would be performed, communicating with Pam Cardell about purchasing props/costumes, relaying information to the entire company, and many more. The second section was creating my self-portrait. I chose a reference photo and spoke to several staff and faculty members about the methods and materials I wanted to use. Kristen Ellert gave me a lot of insight about construction methods/materials, adhesives, and my artistic intentions. Brian Scruggs answered my questions about how lighting would affect my piece. The third section was to collect all the elements of my creative project into one place, along with a written explanation of my self-portrait.
