Abstract
Assessment in early childhood focuses on authentic experiences with trained adults guiding the children in learning experiences. Using research and guided by best practices, early childhood professionals implement a variety of· assessment toots to identify children who may be in need of testing for developmental or other delays and to guide their classroom practice. This exploratory study identified the practical implementation of assessment tools in early childhood education to identify any gap between research and implementation with the goal of aiding future assessment research and development to reflect the needs of early childhood professionals more accurately. Despite having a small sample size the study provided evidence to support continued·· work with a more precise instrument over a larger sample·of the population.
